Taylor Swift Claims Entire Top 10 on Billboard’s Hot 100

Taylor Swift has broken another record by claiming the entire top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100 in the US, becoming the first singer in history to reach that milestone.

The “Shake It Off” singer scored a 10 out of 10 at the top of the chart with songs from her latest album “Midnights.”

Featuring a standard 13-track release and an extended deluxe version with seven additional songs, the album has been available since October 21.

Midnights has also become one of the biggest album releases in almost seven years. According to Billboard, Taylor has tied pop culture icon, Barbra Streisand, as the female artist with the most #1 albums.

Billboard announced that Taylor had overtaken rapper Drake, who held the previous record after claiming 9 of the top 10 positions for one week in September last year.

After the news was shared, the 32-year-old singer wrote on social media: “10 out of 10 of the Hot 100??? On my 10th album??? I AM IN SHAMBLES.”

Taylor conquered the top spots with “Anti-Hero” at number one, whose lyrics have become a trend on TikTok. The other songs that lead to the top Billboard 100 are Lavender Haze, Maroon, Snow On The Beach, Midnight Rain, Bejeweled, Question…?, You’re On Your Own, Kid, Karma, and Vigilante Shit.

Midnights has also helped Taylor set records outside the Billboard Hot 100. It had the biggest first-week sales of any album in 2020, breaking a record set by Harry Styles with Harry’s House.

Additionally, the album had this year’s highest first-week streams at 72.5 million, breaking the previous record set by Styles, who had 53.9.

Taylor has also overtaken pop star, Madonna, setting a new all-time record for the fastest succession of nine #1 albums by any female artist on the UK charts.

However, Taylor is unlikely to reach a 10 out of 10 on the UK Billboard Hot 100, as some rules were set after Ed Sheeran made 16 of 17 songs from his 2017 album ÷ in the top 20. Now, only the top three songs from an album are eligible to be on the UK singles chart.
