Sex And The City: The Series Returns Without Kim Cattrall

A Sex and the City return is already announced. The hit series is coming back to the small screen more than two decades after its successful debut.

The story of the original HBO show focuses on the lives of four New York women between the late 90s and early 2000s, with special attention to their work and relationships. However, just three of them will be part of the TV series revival – those are Cynthia Nixon, Kristin Davis, and Sarah Jessica Parker.

The actress behind the distinguished character Samantha, Kim Cattrall, will not return.

The reason why Cattrall was not cast in the new Sex and the City series has not been confirmed yet. However, it is known that she has developed a strained relationship with the show in recent years, particularly with one of her former co-stars, Sarah Jessica Parker.

In 2017, she said that she has never been friends with the other girls of the cast.

The new series, which is titled ‘And Just Like That’ as a reference to one of the main catchphrases of the show, consists of 10 episodes of 30 minutes each.

The trailer for the next chapter of SATC features a lot of shots of New York. Nevertheless, none of the fab characters is seen on it.

It may be because the production for the new HBO Max show will begin in late spring.

Sarah Aubrey, head of original content at HBO Max, said in a statement: “I grew up with these characters, and I can’t wait to see how their story has evolved in this new chapter, with the honesty, poignancy, humor, and the beloved city that has always defined them.”

The original series was created by Darren Star. It was based on a 1997 book, also titled Sex and the City, written by Candace Bushnell.

SATC’s debut was on HBO in 1998.

The successful series ended in 2004 after six seasons and also inspired two movies called Sex and the City (2008) and Sex and the City 2 (2010).

The Carrie Diaries, a prequel series of SATC starring Anna Sophia Robb, was aired on The CW between 2013-2014.
