Brighton Stun Liverpool With Narrow Win at Anfield Road

On Wednesday, Brighton & Hove Albion earned an important 1-0 victory over Liverpool at Anfield Road. Jurgen Klopp’s men did not show a good level and could not maintain their good run.

The first half did not have many scoring chances. Mohamed Salah was left in an unbeatable position after an exquisite long ball from Jordan Henderson, but the Egyptian’s shot went over the crossbar.

Shortly afterwards, Dan Burn tried to take advantage of a rebound but his shot met a similar fate to Salah’s.

The second half was more exciting. Roberto Firmino fired a shot that went just wide.

In the 57th minute, Pascal Gross sent a cross into the box and with a precise header Leandro Trossard assisted Steven Alzate for the Colombian to score a great goal for the visitors.

Liverpool tried to react. Trent Alexander-Arnold sent in a grounded cross for Salah, but again the Egyptian lacked accuracy.

Trossard almost scored Brighton’s second after a powerful shot, but young goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher responded with a great save.

In the final minutes, Trossard almost got his reward after a spectacular individual move, but Kelleher again ruined his plans.

Liverpool are fourth with 40 points and are seven points behind Manchester City, having played a game more.
