Texans WR Tank Dell Sustains Injuries in Nightclub Shooting

NFL player Tank Dell sustained injuries during a mass shooting in which a teenager reportedly shot 10 people at a nightclub.

Tank Dell, a wide receiver for the Houston Texans, found himself caught in the crossfire of a nightclub shooting in Florida, involving multiple people on Saturday.

The incident occurred at the Cabana Live nightclub and restaurant in Sanford, a city roughly 30 minutes north of Orlando.

Despite not being directly involved, the athlete suffered minor injuries but is expected to make a full recovery.

“We have been made aware that Tank Dell was a victim of a shooting in Sanford, Fla., last night,” the Texans revealed in a statement.

“He sustained a minor wound, but has been released from the hospital and he is in good spirits,” the statement explained.

“We are in contact with him and his family and will provide more updates when appropriate, but we ask that you please respect his privacy at this time. Our thoughts and prayers are with everyone involved in the incident.”

Dell was visiting his mother in his hometown of Daytona Beach, which is almost 40 miles west of Sanford.

The Seminole County Sheriff’s Office identified the shooter as 16-year-old Christopher Bouie.

It is alleged that the teenager shot 10 people, including Dell, at the Cabana Live nightclub and restaurant. The shooting also wounded several other patrons and a security guard.

According to investigators, the violence began with a verbal argument that escalated, leading to multiple non-fatal gunshot injuries.

Bouie faces multiple charges, including minor in possession of a firearm, brandishing a firearm during a felony, discharging a firearm on public property, and attempted murder, as stated in his arrest report.

The arrest report notes that there was a fistfight outside Cabana Live, which Bouie was not initially part of until he turned, pulled out a black and silver handgun (9mm), and started firing at the crowd.

A security guard quickly stopped and disarmed Bouie shortly after he began his shooting spree, as detailed in the report.

Following a promising rookie year, Dell had been off the field to heal a broken fibula but has now fully recovered.

He has been actively participating in the team’s off-season conditioning program for additional training.

“He looks great,” Pro Bowl quarterback CJ Stroud told NBC affiliate KPRC-TV.

“He’s gotten a lot better. Mentally, I think for both of us, really all of the rookies coming into Year Two, everything is starting to slow down, and the wheels aren’t turning so much in your head. Being able to throw with him in LA was really big.”
