Luka Doncic Signs $207m Extension To Stay in Dallas

On Monday, Luka Doncic officially signed a historic deal with Dallas, which will bring him $207 million in the next five years.

That is the largest contract ever signed by a player after the expiration of his rookie deal.

How much everyone in Dallas cares about Luka Doncic is best shown by the fact that the team’s owner Mark Cuban, the team’s legend Dirk Nowitzki and head coach Jason Kidd arrived in Ljubljana, the capital of Luka’s native Slovenia, where they held a press conference announcing that the most talented basketball player of today will stay in Texas.

“I’m proud of Luka,” owner Mark Cuban said. “I’ve seen when he first came in, the pressure that was on him and the way he dealt with it, how hard he worked. How he recognized that it was always about the team winning and that was what was most important to him. That was always most important to me, whatever we could do to win.”

Doncic was obviously excited about the biggest moment of his young career.

“I still kind of don’t know what to say because I never imagined this happening,” Doncic said. “I was only dreaming of only playing in the NBA.”

“Also I would like to thank my parents for sending me to Spain when I was very young. It was hard at first, but easier when I learned the language.”

Doncic was the leader of the Slovenian team that finished 4th at the Tokyo Olympics and made a comparison between playing for Dallas and for his country.

“I think we made some great moves in free agency, but I think one of the most important things to win is the chemistry that the team has on the court,” Doncic said. “Like for example in Slovenia we had amazing chemistry, and I think that led us to winning games.”
