Popular Singaporean Comedian Kumar To Perform in Bangkok

Let’s clarify a few things about Kumar right off the bat. In an interview with ‘The Straits Times’, Kumar stated that he is not a drag queen, but rather a stand-up comedian who performs in drag.

Furthermore, if given the choice, he prefers to be referred to using the pronoun “Kumar.”

The talented Singaporean Indian comedian is set to make his debut in Bangkok with a show titled “Kumarsutra: Greatest Hits”, where he will present a collection of his most hilarious material.

The performance will take place on May 26 at The Westin Grande, Sukhumvit, starting at 8pm. The event is organized by The Comedy Club Bangkok and LOL Asia.

Having previously entertained sold-out audiences in Singapore and Malaysia, Kumar, also known for his witty stage name “Aneh with bells” (a play on Annabelle), continues to spread laughter internationally.

He embarks on a multi-city tour, aiming to establish himself as a prominent stand-up comedian in Southeast Asia.

Although primarily recognized for his comedic talents, Kumar, whose real name is Kumarason Chinnadurai, has also ventured into various other roles such as TV hosting, acting, directing, and writing, spanning across the past three decades.

Reflecting on his extensive experience, Kumar expressed his excitement about taking his art worldwide and connecting with his global fan base.

With a performance schedule of four to five shows per week for nearly 30 years, primarily in Singapore and Malaysia, Kumar eagerly anticipates the opportunity to showcase some of his best work during the tour.

Fearlessly tackling controversial topics and embracing his own identity, Kumar’s sharp and relatable remarks, everyday observations, and idiosyncrasies form the core of his distinctive sense of humour, guaranteed to make you burst out laughing.

The Bangkok show, aptly named “Kumarsutra: Greatest Hits,” will draw material from Kumar’s vast experience amassed throughout his illustrious career spanning three decades.
