Westlife’s The Wild Dreams Tour Is Coming to Bangkok in February

Irish boy band Westlife will be heading to Bangkok in February as their “The Wild Dreams Tour” makes a stop in Thailand, much to the delight of their vast fanbase in the Kingdom.

Shane Filan, Mark Feehily, Kian Egan, and Nicky Byrne form the group which has enjoyed tremendous success ever since the boys joined forces back in 1998. One of their highest achievements is that 14 of their singles charted in the UK at Number 1, placing them third behind The Beatles, and Elvis Presley for the most chart-topping hits ever in the country.

The quartet released their latest album “Wild Dreams” exactly a year ago, with critics and fans alike hailing the midtempo electro pop record. Songs such as “Starlight” and “Alone Together” on the album have won the band new fans, adding to its humongous support.

Westlife has sold over 55 million records worldwide, a figure that includes studio albums, singles, DVD releases, and compilation albums. “Swear It Again”, “Flying Without Wings”, “You Raise Me Up”, “My Love”, “Unbreakable” and a cover of Billy Joel’s classic “Uptown Girl” are among the best-selling records the group have released over the last 24 years.

2019’s “Spectrum” album was the end of an eight year break for Westlife from recording new material, a comeback album that saw the world fall in love with them all over again.

Three of Westlife’s members, Shane, Mark, and Kian, went to the same school together in Sligo, Ireland – originally they called the group Six As One before changing their name to IOYOU. Soon after, Boyzone’s manager Louis Walsh reached out and offered his services.

Louis, who later went on to have huge success as a main judge on British TV show The X Factor, decided to cut IOYOU’s six members down to three and hold auditions to find two new recruits: Nicky Byrne and Brian McFadden joined the newly-renamed band Westlife.

1998 to 2004 was the band’s heyday and plenty of records were broken for sales of both singles and albums, before Brian McFadden decided to leave the group in 2004 to focus on raising his young family. Rumours that this might have been the beginning of the end for the group were not true, with 7 more years of success before the band’s split in 2011.

Fans of Westlife were ecstatic when the band reformed in 2018, and the boys came back stronger than ever – “Spectrum” and “Wild Dreams” had critical and commercial success globally, building on the legacy that has seen the Irish lads go down in the history books.
